Loss

“You don't know who is important to you until you actually lose them.”

One of the hardest things in life is to lose someone near and dear to you. In the Poem, “Viking Warrior”, by Taylor Mali , Tony Steinberg a brave seventh grader who is battling cancer, ultimately loses. Tony has been very brave. He is only in the seventh grade and has been confronted by this challenge, chemotherapy. All 13 of his classmates shaved their heads for Tony, not a single one of them hadn't shaved their heads. This shows a lot of empathy:
Totally bald in a jacket and tie on Friday morning—and I don’t just mean Tony Steinberg—not one single boy in my class had hair that day;the other 12 had all shaved their heads in solidarity. Have you ever seen 13 bald-headed seventh grade boys, all pointing at each other, all staring, all laughing?

Ultimately, Tony isn’t able to defeated the horrible disease and is sent to heaven. “he died with a sword in his hand and went straight to heaven”. Tony seemed like a normal seventh grade boy. But yet he had been challenged by god to surpass cancer one of the deadliest things any human could go through. when his classmates had found out what had happened they decided to do something about it. So they shaved their in honor of Tony Steinberg. Tony is loved by everybody around him. It is awful that someone so young should have ever faced cancer. His classmates mourn in their loss of a friend who was kind and loving. In the poem, his classmates show a lot of empathy towards Tony. His classmates even go to the extent to shave all of their heads in honor of Tony. Tony steinberg will be missed by many, but not forgotten.
